Waterbugs Activity Day 2023

2023-09-17 @ 9:30 AM 12:00 PM

All sections are invited to attend our waterbugs activity day. Activities on the day involve going to the junction of two local creeks at Ingleside, to collect and find more about waterbugs found in the creeks. Different classification of the waterbugs indicates how healthy the water is in the creek.

Healthy creeks indicate healthy environments. Wirreanda Creek, which runs through Ingleside Scout Camp is home to many species of animals including freshwater crayfish, dragonfly nymphs, water boatmen, and tadpoles to name a few. Joey and Cub Scouts become citizen scientists for Streamwatch, catching waterbugs and collecting data on the animals in the creek.

Please bring a small backpack, your own food for the morning, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, roll-on insect repellant, raincoat, jumper, and shoes that can get wet.  For more information, Leaders can contact: environment.ingleside@nsw.scouts.com.au and reference this activity.

PLEASE NOTE: Meeting place: top car park of Camp Kedron, 7 Emmaus Road, Ingleside. We will walk through Camp Kedron down a short bush track to the creeks. 5 minute walk.

Drive along Mona Vale Road from St Ives/Terrey Hills or Mona Vale / Narrabeen.

Turn into Tumburra Street and follow all the way to the end where you turn left into Bloodwood Road.  Continue until you see Emmaus Road on the left turn here and continue to a car park at the end of this road.

DO NOT use Addison Road or Chiltern Road as they do not go all the way to the camp.

$5.00
