Sydney North Region Scouts

Last weekend was the NSW State Rally, the largest annual Scout-aged (11-14yo) event on the Scouts NSW calendar. It’s a weekend where Scouts camp together, cook together, take on challenges, explore activities, and meet new people from right across the state.

With more than 1,800 Scouts, Venturer Scouts, Rover Scouts, Girl Guides, Leaders, and adult volunteers on site at Cataract Activity Centre, near Appin, the event delivered activities packed with adventure, energy and the unmistakable Scouting spirit, all set against the theme of “Race Against Time”.

Just over 200 teams (or "Patrols") of Scouts competed in the event, with Patrols from Sydney North taking seven of the top ten places. Leaders and Venturer Scouts (ages 15-17) provided the huge range of imaginative activity bases.

The weekend ended after lots of laughs, with youth members and adult volunteers alike going home tired, but happy.

August 1st is World Scout Day, observing the date of the very first experimental Scout camp held by Robert Baden-Powell in the UK in 1907.

On this day each year, Adult Recognition Awards are announced, honouring adult members and supporters for their commitment and contribution to Scouting.

State-wide, 491 people have received awards for 2026, with 137 of them being from Sydney North Region.
