Single Weekend Flat Water Paddling Skills Development at Manly Dam (North Harbour Scout Water Base Scout Fellowship)
These weekends cater for Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, and Leaders. Over the weekend, participants will take part in 8 hours of paddling, stroke technique, a mini-expedition, rescues, capsize drills but most importantly, they’ll have a fantastic weekend on the water! Usually canoeing qualifications up to Safe Participant are achievable on these training events without prior experience.
It is preferable for participants to supply canoes, paddles, and lifejackets however, canoes can be provided on request prior to the weekend.
Double Weekend Flat Water Skills Development at Manly Dam + Canoe Journey on Brisbane Waters (North Harbour Scout Water Base Scout Fellowship)
The double weekend flat water canoe workshop is aimed at achieving the technical components of OAS Padding Stage 3 and 4 and covers components of Stage 5 (of interest to the Venturers who attend). Leaders who attend can, by completing some extra bits of work (that we can assist with), achieve their Trained Participant qualification in flat water canoeing. The second weekend, being the journey on Brisbane Waters, is Patrol-based with the team supporting the canoes. Each participant earns a camp fellowship blanket badge. Participants must be able to swim 50 metres.
The course costs $75 per person with the participants providing their own food.
