In Scouting we spend a lot of time outdoors in the natural world, however, it is important that we do more than just enjoy it. Understanding the natural environment helps young people grow a deeper respect and find their place in the world. This can be done by looking into natural processes and interactions in the environment, to then better understand human impacts and the flow on effects to management and sustainability.

As Sydney North’s Region Leader – Environment, I am excited and keen to share my passion for caring for the natural environment with youth and adults, through programs, activities, and resources for the environment Special Interest Area. My aims are:

  • Promote and continue to build a Region environment team with youth, young adults (Rovers), and adults.
  • Attend events throughout the Region and relevant State events to encourage members to focus on their environment.
  • Engage with local community groups and businesses who want to support environment focus through Scouting in the Region.
  • Continue to support the Ingleside Environment Scout Fellowship team, who do great work and have shared their knowledge with members – youth and adults – for many years.

If you are interested in joining the SNR Environment Team, to better support environment projects in your District please contact me. I also encourage you to contact me if you are part of an organisation or small business with an environment focus. and would like to support Scouts.
