Rock Climbing Adventures



For a weekend, the rock climbing team can take you to the Blue Mountains and show you all the tricks and skills you need to be a confident rock climber! Forget the indoor climbing gyms, this is real climbing at its best!

Who Can Do It?

Climbing in various settings and conditions is available to members of the Movement over the age of 8, through Commercial Climbing Gyms and Day activities and weekend trips.

When Can I Do This? (Season, Day, Night, Weekend).

All year round, Meeting Nights, Day trips, Weekends.

Qualifications Required

For Commercial Climbing Gyms no qualification is required by the Scout Association. Outside Climbing activities must be under the control of a Rockclimbing Level 3 or (where participants have a general Rockclimbing qualification) a Rockclimbing Level 2 (Leader).

The Rockclimbing Team can train people to levels:
Climber Level 1  (allowing certificate holders to participate in other rock-based activities),
Climbing Level 2 (Advanced)
Climbing Level 3 and
Guide

Climber Level 1

Course Prerequisites
Venturer age or older;
Hold a current Level 1 Abseil Certificate.

Climbing Level 2

These training events are scheduled as required. Contact the Rock Climbing Coordinator for more information.

Course Prerequisites
Hold a current Climber Level 1 Certificate;
Hold a current Abseil Level 1 Certificate.
Hold a current HLTAID 001, 002 & 003.

Indoor Climbing

Indoor Rock Climbing is also available at the Barra Brui Activities Centre, St Ives and at a number of commercially operated centres who will usually give a discount for Scouts or Group Bookings.
 

Rock Climbing Adventure Weekends

The Rock Climbing Team heads off several times a year on a weekend away in various locations Rock Climbing. All you have to do is bookin and come along.

Requirements:-

1. If you wish to go Rock Climbing then you should complete the Basic Rockcraft event (see abseiling page).

2. Have attended a Rock Climbing information evening.

Cost

Rockclimbing Workshops cost $50 per participant. An equipment hire fee will apply to other climbing activities where Region equipment is used
 

HOW TO BOOK:-

1. Pick the workshop you wish to attend.
2. Down load a Booking Form.
3. Fill in the details & email to (Click on link) - Sydney North Region Office
4. Complete the Booking form and attach a cheque made out to "Scouts Australia" or Direct Deposit workshop fee payment (See Below)
5. Direct Deposit Payment to -
     * Account Name - SSA, NSW Branch, Sydney North Region
     * BSB - 032-000     Account Number - 186745
     * Reference - SURNAME + COURSE NUMBER (See Above)
6. If unsure about any details or if you are eligible to attend the Workshop or Activity then contact the Activity Coordinator.
7. To confirm if the workshop is still on and has space contact the Region Office
