SUMMARY:Safe Participant Abseil Course - Theory Night (ABS24F)
DESCRIPTION:This is the base-level course for participation in rockcraft activities and is required for vertical canyoning and caving. Attending this workshop will give you a great grounding for rock adventures and you can even earn you Stage 4 OAS Abseiling (However you must abseil on at least one other occasion before or after the course to complete the OAS requirements). \n\n\n\nThe course is suitable for Venturers\, Rovers\, and Leaders. \n\n\n\nThe theory night is held at Barra Brui Scout Hall and includes a mix of theory presentations and practical components (prussiking\, knots\, setting up abseil devices\, care of equipment). \n\n\n\nThe theory night registration is combined with the prac day for the same course number\, you do not need to register separately. \n\n\n\nThe practical day is held at Wahroonga Rocks. Participants aim to complete 15 abseils on a variety of abseil devices as well as practising belaying skills\, and prussiking. SUMMARY:Safe Participant Abseil Course - Practical Day (ABS24F)
DESCRIPTION:This is the base-level course for participation in rockcraft activities and is required for vertical canyoning and caving. Attending this workshop will give you a great grounding for rock adventures and you can even earn you Stage 4 OAS Abseiling (However you must abseil on at least one other occasion before or after the course to complete the OAS requirements). \n\n\n\nThe course is suitable for Venturers\, Rovers\, and Leaders. \n\n\n\nThe theory night is held at Barra Brui Scout Hall and includes a mix of theory presentations and practical components (prussiking\, knots\, setting up abseil devices\, care of equipment). \n\n\n\nThe theory night registration is combined with the prac day for the same course number\, you do not need to register separately.  \n\n\n\nThe practical day is held at Wahroonga Rocks. Participants aim to complete 15 abseils on a variety of abseil devices as well as practising belaying skills\, and prussiking. The course includes a separate theory night at Barra Brui Scout Hall. \n\n\n\nRecommended Pre-reading:\n\n\n\n\nKnots (SP Section Only)\n\n\n\n\nDigital copies will be provided prior to the course if you don’t have access to Teams.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBring:\n\n\n\n\nSuitable Clothing.\n\n\n\nWater + Lunch.\n\n\n\nYour Prussiks.\n\n\n\nYour Workbook with theory questions completed.\n\n\n\nPrinted out logbook.\n\n\n\n\nTimes:\n\n\n\n\nArrive 8:30am and walk down to the rocks – map in your email.\n\n\n\nFinish approximately 4pm.\n\n\n\n\nYou will be:\n\n\n\n\nCompleting at least 10 abseils on different devices.\n\n\n\nTop Belay and catch a falling Guide.\n\n\n\nDo prussiking over an edge.\n\n\n\nGet assessed on your knots.\n\n\n\nGet your theory answers assessed.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ninvalid event id provided.

SUMMARY:Evening Rockcraft Workshop (REW24I)
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Rockcraft Skills workshop – open to anyone who has attended a TP/AG (Level 2) course\, or Guides maintaining currency. Current Qual not required. This is a self driven workshop where we will cover what you need to work on toward your quals\, or what you want to practise/review. \n\n\n\nA great way to build your skills towards guide (or your OAS levels). Rescue workshops are also one of the ways you can demonstrate your rescue currency which is required for all guides\, and especially if you are going through requal. If you are a current guide this is also a good way to stop your rescue skills getting rusty. \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring\n\n\n\n\nA Head Torch\n\n\n\nYour Personal Abseil Gear (It is assumed you have your own gear\, if you do not please specify on Scout Event at least 24 hours beforehand)\n\n\n\n\nPlease let me know if you have any topics you specifically want to cover. \n\n\n\nThis year we are asking that all participants register on Scout Event. \n\n\ninvalid event id provided.
