DESCRIPTION:Have you been working on your Trained Participant (or Higher) Canyoning and want to take you skills to the next level? Join the SNR Rockcraft Team for a Weekend at Kanangra. Kanangra is an advanced canyoning area 3 hours from Sydney\, featuring long sustain canyons with many 50m+ pitches. \n\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\n\n\nThis an advanced area\, participants must meet the following critieria to register: \n\n\n\n\nHave attended at least one Canyoning TP Weekend\n\n\n\nHave canyoned on at least 4 occassions\, 5 – 6 recommended. (If you don’t meet this criteria check out our Canyon Adventure Weekends!)\n\n\n\nAble to self belay (VT\, clemhiest or french prussik only)\n\n\n\nHave good physical fitness – the walk outs from Kanangra Canyons often involve 600m climb outs – significantly more than normal Blue Mountains Canyons\n\n\n\n\nPossible Canyons Include\n\n\n\n\nKanangra Main\n\n\n\nKalang Falls\n\n\n\nOther Canyons in the Kanagra Area\n\n\n\n\nCamping\n\n\n\nWe will be camping at Boyd River Campground in Kanagra-Boyd National Park. You will need to arrive on the Friday night with a 6:30am departure from the campsite on the Saturday morning. \n\n\n\nYou will need to bring your own Tent & Sleeping Gear and the event will be self catered. \n\n\n\nWe will like to return to Sydney quite late on Sunday. \n\n\n\nEquipment\n\n\n\nPlease refer to the gear list on the Sydeny North Region Scouts Canyoning Page. \n\n\n\nIt is critical that you bring a pack suitable to carry 50m ropes\, a rain coat and a good whistle. \n\n\n\nAdditionally – you must have a rescue knife on your harness\, and a good pack – preferably one that can drain easily. \n\n\ninvalid event id provided.

SUMMARY:Canyoning Adventure Weekend – Theory Night CNY26C & CNY26D
DESCRIPTION:This is an adventure weekend of vertical canyoning. Attending this workshop provides training for Safe Participant\, Trained Participant\, Assistant Guide and Guide along with the ability for youth members to achieve you Stage 4 Caynoning OAS under Vertical (Youth Program). \n\n\n\nThe course is suitable for Venturers\, Rovers\, and Leaders. \n\n\n\nThe theory night is held at Barra Brui Scout Hall and includes a mix of theory presentations and practical components covering personal equipment\, rope skills\, abseiling in canyons\, walking skills\, environmental protection of canyons\, logistics\, risks and minor emergencies. \n\n\n\nThe theory night is shared between the November & December Canyoning events. SUMMARY:Joey Scouts Paddling Skills Day Session 1
DESCRIPTION:The North Harbour Scout Water Base (NHSWB) team will run 2 sessions of canoeing instruction and paddling activity specifically for Joey Scouts. \n\n\n\nEach joey MUST be accompanied by an adult parent/carer (1 per family sufficient) to be present for entire session and 1 adult (booked as leader or adult helper) will be required to accompany 2 Joeys in each canoe. \n\n\n\nThere will be 2 sessions on the day\, with a maximum 24 joeys each. There is also a minimum 12 joeys required for each session. If insufficient number of joeys register for any session\, that session will be cancelled. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. \n\n\n\nThe paddling skills program will run for about 2 hours\, including 1 hour on the water. This will enable youth members to be signed off on most\, if not all\, items required for OAS Paddling Skills – Stage 1. Leaders with Basic Water Rescue qualifications will be on hand to supervise and assess the remaining Aquatic type skills. \n\n\n\nJoeys are encouraged to arrive 15-30 minutes before the scheduled session to ensure paddling time is maximised Session 1 – 08:15 -10:15 Min 12 joeys Max 24 joeys Session 2 – 10:30 -12:30 Min 12 joeys Max 24 joeys \n\n\n\nWear: Clothes that can get wet – board shorts and rashie maybeClosed shoes to wear at all times (no crocs or sandals) – must be willing to get wet[PARENTS/CARERS also to wear enclosed shoes at all times] \n\n\n\nBring:HatWater bottleSunscreenInsect repellentSnacksToweldry clothes and shoes to change into after canoeing. \n\n\n\n\ninvalid event id provided.
