SUMMARY:Safe Participant Abseil Course - Practical Day (ABS24E)
DESCRIPTION:This is the base-level course for participation in rockcraft activities and is required for vertical canyoning and caving. Attending this workshop will give you a great grounding for rock adventures and you can even earn you Stage 4 OAS Abseiling (However you must abseil on at least one other occasion before or after the course to complete the OAS requirements). \n\n\n\nThe course is suitable for Venturers\, Rovers\, and Leaders. \n\n\n\nThe theory night is held at Barra Brui Scout Hall and includes a mix of theory presentations and practical components (prussiking\, knots\, setting up abseil devices\, care of equipment). \n\n\n\nThe theory night registration is combined with the prac day for the same course number\, you do not need to register separately.  \n\n\n\nThe practical day is held at Wahroonga Rocks. Participants aim to complete 15 abseils on a variety of abseil devices as well as practising belaying skills\, and prussiking. DESCRIPTION:Garigal District Cubs (ONLY) are invited to attend District Cub Hike from Manly Dam Section 4 to 1st Allambie Heights Scout Hall (approx 2pm-5.30pm). \n\n\n\nGarigal District Cub Hike Sat Aug 10th 2024 from 2pm – 5.30pm(Please arrive by 1.50pm and check in with Allambie Leader\, “Emu”) \n\n\n\nMeeting Point – Section 4 Manly Dam picnic area \n\n\n\nFinish Point – 1st Allambie Heights Scout Hall\, 84 Roosevelt Ave Allambie Heights \n\n\n\n(car pooling is strongly encouraged at both ends – you can park at either end of oval where Allambie Hall is) \n\n\n\nLight refreshments will be served at the Scout Hall at end of Hike (sausage sizzle and chicken noodles) – please bring a cup/bowl and cutlery for noodles. \n\n\n\nAttendees must wear a wide brimmed hat\, sturdy enclosed walking shoes\, bring a warm jacket\, headtorch and consider rain gear\, as appropriate to weather forecast. \n\n\n\nCost $7 (for Cubs and Parent Helpers).
