Mullet Moot 2005Over the weekend of March 18-20, more than 150 Rovers from all around the east coast of Australia braved the long and winding road down from Mittagong to Wollondilly River Station to join Epping Rovers for the annual Sydney North Region Summer Moot - "Mullet Moot... more than just a haircut".Crews from as far north as Queensland, and as far south as Victoria got into the spirit and joined the NSW Rovers for a weekend where bogans reigned supreme. Activities included a B & S ball, beverage and donut relay, re-enactments of quality daytime TV, thong toss, finding lost cans, balloon relays, and the only wash these guys get - a soapy wrestle. Numerous people also drove back up the hill with new, but not necessarily improved, haircuts. Forest Rovers, being the redneck fellas they are, won fair and square.... who would have thought Gusbo and Chucky would fit together in a single swag! Second place was the first team from outside the Region, a combined 1st Korrahill and 4th Wollongong. They were followed by Razorback, Berowra/Figtree and then Kissing Point. The Best Car award went to the poo-brown Torana, owned by Tim from Brush Park - hope it made it back up the hill! Russ from Razorback would have scared small children with the authenticity of his singlet tan, stubbies, mullet, frullet, and quality handlebar mo. Michelle from Forest was quite the redneck wife, complete with nightie, hair rollers, and a bun in the oven! Well done to these two best dressed bogans. The Best Dressed Crew went to the girls all the way from Victoria (E.J. Marshall Rover Crew) who kept in "costume"’ the whole weekend wearing their flannos... but maybe that's just how they dress down there! We love you coz you're Victorians. All in all, an excellent weekend with a huge effort put in by the organisers, Epping Rover Crew, and definitely well worth the winding drive. Youz were tops... cheers! |
