The 13th World Moot opens in Kenya on Monday - and Cameron Wheatley, Pete Favelle (both from Epping), Leigh Warder (Mona Vale) and Erin Slaviero (Brush Park) will be there to experience it, among an Australian Contingent of some 30-40 Rovers. We hope to get a few updates from them during the Moot, to give you just some idea of what an amazing experience a World Moot is. Check out the official Moot website at http://www.scoutmoot2010.org For those interested in the next opportunity, watch out for info on the 14th World Moot, to be held in Canada in 2013. __________________________________________________________________________ ROVER NIGHT @ HORNSBY GANG SHOW The crowd of Rovers from a whole bunch of Sydney North Crews whooped it up at Hornsby Gang Show on Friday July 9, providing a loud and enthusiastic audience for the Gang - and the cast hardly missed a beat! Rovers from Normanhurst, Mt Colah and Platabeen were up on stage, with other Crews and plenty of ex-Rovers represented backstage. And as is tradition, the whole lot moved on to the Hornsby RSL afterwards, virtually taking over the entire front bar. Everywhere you looked were tables of current and past Rovers, catching up over a drink or ten, into the early hours of Saturday morning. Another great Rover Night for Hornsby Gang Show! If you're interested to join the cast for 2011, watch out for info on auditions in November or December. __________________________________________________________________________ OZMOOT EXPEDITIONS IN FOCUS 2 Time is fast running out if you haven't yet applied for the time of your life at the 18th Australian Rover Moot in SA at the end of the year! This fundraising event is going to be held on the 25th September 2010 at Helensburgh Workers Club, Helensburgh starting at 7.00pm. Tim is going to do a audio-visual presentation and will be signing some "Everest: Sea to Summit" books and videos along with renowned adventure filmmaker Michael Dillon. I have also arranged for Greg Mortimer, Tim and Lincoln Hall to sign copies of "White Limbo" so we can auction / raffle them off to raise funds. Dick Smith has come on board and Brigitte Muir has donated a signed art work of Everest. I'm also in the process of arranging something from Andrew Lock and a few mountaineering companies to hopefully auction off. Helensburgh is located at the southern end of The Royal National Park and is only an hour or so from the northside. Everyone is welcome and please help us promote this night to anyone interested in adventure. Tickets will be $10.00 and can be purchased from http://www.helensburghscouts.org.au or directly from easytickets@hotmail.com I believe that achievements like these guys and these types of presentations will encourage our young adventurers and help a generation see through their own eyes the splendour of our world rather than from a flat screen.
