In the end we had over 60 Rovers attending between the days and got a lot of work done. In the words of the Ku-ring-gai Council guys, "What you did this day would have taken two men two weeks of solid work, so thank you". Even better was the quote from Ranger Dave of the Middle Head National Park - "Without your time, this simply would not have been done!" In the end on the Saturday we ended up planting around 200 trees, serving food to three different local sports clubs, clearing 5 km of a 50 year old walking track and creating a fire break in front of 10 properties. On the last task alone, over 1 tonne of lantana was removed - just ask the Normo Rovers to show you their scars! On Sunday it was back into it with another tonne of weeds coming out of Middle Head National Park and some serious hard work it not only cleaning out a creek line but also carefully getting out all of the smaller weeds so they just don't grow back. Oh behalf of both the Council and National Parks I would like to thank everyone that made it on the weekend. In particular thanks to Simon Milligan (Normo) and Pip Weeks (Garigal) who made it both days. Also great work to Brush Park with so many on both days and remembering their A1 forms and Gordon who despite not having a Crew at the moment still managed to get three people attending. My only question for the weekend was where were the other members of our Region? In particular Mona Vale, as it is hard work organising an event let alone never hearing from a Crew and then having no one show up from that Crew on either day. For those that did miss the event or just love service, the plan is to head back to Middle Head around the end of July for a day just to ensure those weeds stay out. Luke, the new RRC Service Co-ordinator will be organising this - if you want to be pro-active, contact him at rrc.service@sydneynorthscouts.com. Keep up the great service in your local areas and if you would like to organise a Crew service with either group, please contact me and I can send you the details. Aaron Smith RRC Service Co-ordinator 2009/10 __________________________________________________________________________ ROVERS ABSEIL COURSE We will be running a Rovers-only Basic Abseil Course. Scouts knows that this is a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends and enable the flow of communication to reach Members. However, we ask that you are mindful of the Scouts Australia NSW Privacy Policy, the Code of Conduct, and the Scout Law and Promise when participating in these sites. Your Crew Leader and RA will be familiar with these policies - if you yourself are not, please consult with them if you need further information. __________________________________________________________________________ NEXT RRC MEETING The next meeting of the Sydney North Region Rover Council is coming up on Sunday June 6th, 7.00pm at 2nd Gordon - there will be the usual BBQ from 6.30pm.
