The NSW Scout International Friendship Team (SIFT) hosted a morning tea at Baden-Powell Scout Camp, Pennant Hills in the Sydney North Region, on the 25th February 2012. Leaders and Youths representing State, Regional and Local Greek Groups met with Mr Yannis Melahrinoudis, the Commissioner for the Greek Scouts Abroad.
Mr Yannis was in Australia to promote the centenary of Greek Scouts Abroad. His aim was to encourage people of Greek origin to work closely with Scout Groups and to encourage more Greek origin people to join Scouts.
Greek Scout Leaders, volunteers and friends of Scouting received awards as part of the celebrations. 6th Bankstown, 3rd Sutherland and 2nd Belmore from Sydney and 6th Box Hill, 9th Oakleigh from Melbourne, received recognition.
The Chief Commissioner of Soma Hellinon Proskopon, Scouts of Greek, Mr Theodoros Kefalas, sent his apologies for not attending and his best wishes to all Scouts in Australia with the hope that more people of Greek origin will enjoy the benefits that Scouting has to offer in Australia in the future.
