Kandersteg 2016
The Kandersteg International Scout Centre was opened by Lord Baden Powell in 1923, three years after the success of the first World Scout Jamboree. Located in Kandersteg, a small vilalge nestled in the beautiful Swiss Alps, KISC is a permanent Jamboree site where Scouts from across the world come together. It is a place to meet and learn from Scouts from all over the world; to camp and cook together; and to explore the Swiss Alps and all the adventurous activities within them.
Australia has a proud history in sending staff and volunteers to KISC, with many staying for long periods and returning for additional stints at the centre. Until now, the distance and cost has largely prevented Scouts Australia from sending a large contingent to represent Australia and expierence all the KISC and Switzerland has to offer. So, 93 years after Lord Baden Powell initiated KISC, Scouts Australia are going to visit.
This is a unique opportunity that has been carefully designed to be accessible and affordable, yet incredible and awe-inspiring. We will be going in school and university holidays, and seeing the very best of Switzerland. It is agreat mix of adventure, culture, learning and fun. Be part of history and join Scouts Australia in the first official Australian Contingent to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
Enquiries can be made to your Region International Representatives.
