Junior First Aid

The Sydney North Scout region offers Certified Fisrt Aid Training to youth and leaders. The Scout First Aid Team coordinates first aid courses which are conducted by the Scout Training Area of St John Ambulance Australia (NSW). All St John Ambulance volunteer trainers teaching these courses are also certified Leaders with either the Scout or Guide Associations. The Scout First Aid Team has representatives from Sydney North Region, South Metropolitan Region and Greater Western Sydney Region, and conducts courses in each of those Scouting Regions and elsewhere on request.

The Sydney North Region First Aid Team conducts first aid courses at Barra Brui Scout Activities Centre (off Hunter Street) at St Ives.

The First Aid Team members also act as first aiders at many Region and Branch events, and always welcome new team members, whether to become a trainer or to assist as first aiders at events.

Junior First Aid is now called Preliminary First Aid.

The Preliminary course is a one day course for those over ten and not yet fourteen.

Learning by doing is the key here, and the assessment is progressive throuh the day, rather than having an exam at the end of the day.
