Caving Adventures



Caving is the sport of exploring naturally formed caves, above and below ground, both horizontal (walked or crawled through) and vertical (involving abseiling and ladder climbing).

Who Can Do It?

Caving varies in degree of difficulty and is available to members of the Movement from 8 years of age. It is most popular in the Venturer and Rover Sections

When Can I Do This? (Season, Day, Night, Weekend).

All year round, Day trips, Weekends.

Qualifications Required

Activity must be under the control of a Caving Guide or (where participants have a Level 1 caving qualification) a Caving Level 2. Multi-pitch caving must be under the control of a Caving Guide.

Caving Adventure Weekends

The Caving Team runs a number of caving advnture weekends during the year. Caving adventure weekends are held at Bungonia or Wee Jasper where you can have a weekend of fun.

Requirements:-

1. If you wish to go vertical caving then you should complete the Basic Rockcraft event (see abseiling page).

2. Have attended an caving information evening.
 

Qualifications

If you want to get a caving qualificaiton please discuss this with our team who will be happy to assist you through this process. Basic details are below:-

Caver Level 1
Venturer age or older;
Hold a current Level 1 Abseil Certificate.

Caver Level 2
Hold a current Caver Level 1 Certificate;
Hold a current Level 2 Abseil Certificate;
Hold a current HLTAID 001, 002 & 003.

Caver Level 3
Those people interested in this level of qualification should contact the Caving coordinator (see below).

HOW TO BOOK:-

1. Pick the workshop you wish to attend.
2. Download the relevant E1 form.
3. Complete the E1 form and attach a cheque for $65 made out to "Scouts Australia"
4. Mail both form and cheque to Sydney North Region Office
5. Closing dates for each workshop are beside the details above.

 

Caving workshops cost $65 per participant plus national park entry fees if applicable. An equipment hire fee will apply to other caving activities where Region equipment is used.

All booking and E1 forms for these workshops should be sent tothe Region Office together with workshop fee before the closing date.
