2009 Roscar Award Winners

On Saturday November 28th, Epping Rover Crew put together a great Sydney North Region Christmas Rover Annual Party (CRAP), themed "Nintendo CRAP" - with around seventy Rovers representing Crews from around the Region, dressed as assorted Nintendo game characters!

In recognition of the Mario Bros, an Italian meal was provided, plus plenty of retro game favourites to play! Then the Rovers hit the dance floor.

A great night out!

It was also the night when Sydney North's annual Roscar Awards were presented. These awards, nominated and voted for by their peers, are made to Crews or individuals who have made an outstanding effort in Rovering.

Well done to all who were nominated this year and congratulations to all those who took home a Roscar.

And the 2009 winners were....

Outstanding Crew: Epping Rover Crew
Nominated for upholding the traditions of Scouting, having a large Crew that participates in all levels of Rover government, excellent retention and growth and dedicated to service to the community.

Outstanding Rover: Aaron Smith, Kissing Point Rover Crew
Aaron has been one the most active members of Rovers for years. Within his Crew, he handles being treasurer and organises various events. He has gone above and beyond his role as RRC Service Co-ordinator, organising Oxfam Trailwalker and Hike for Hunger. Aaron has also received the Tony Balthasar Award and will be using it to cycle around Scandinavia next year.

Best Activity: "Tradies Moot" - Berowra Rover Crew
Tradies Moot was a perfect example of a well run Moot/activity. There was a great depth in planning, that was evident over the two days. The activities were great as well as the camping ground, which was ideal for a Moot. Even during a torrential storm people were still having a blast. The food was excellent, and there was always something to do, even in between activities. A great event.

Outstanding Service: Hike for Hunger - Mt Colah/Mt Ku-ring-gai Rover Crew
Mt Colah/Mt Ku-ring-gai were nominated for this award as the Crew that was the first to reach the target of 1,000 cans per Crew. Not only were they the first Crew to reach this target, but they did it with great speed and are only a small Crew.

Outstanding Effort/Most Improved: Normanhurst Rover Crew
Normanhusrt have put in a great effort this year. Over the last couple of years, they have flourished, grown significantly and the Crew members are all well liked throughout the Region. Their strong attitude and organisational activities came to be shown at the Magical Mystery Tour and everyone who went had a great time. This Crew has grown in leaps and bounds. It will good to see what they will be able to do over the next couple of years.

Congratulations to all the winners!
