Roventure 2008 - "Search for the Holy Grail"

Roventure is an annual competitive camp featuring a range of fun and crazy activities, designed to forge closer bonds between Venturer Units and Rover Crews. On February 22-24, 2008, scores of Venturers and Rovers from around Sydney North gathered for this fantastic annual event.

"To the north there lies a cave -- the cave of Kyre Banorg -- wherein, carved in mystic runes upon the very living rock, the last words of Ulfin Bedweer of Regett proclaim the last resting place of the most Holy Grail"

On Friday Feb 22nd, the brave Knights of Sydney North set forth on their quest for the Holy Grail. They did not find the cave of Kyre Banorg, however they did come across the swamp of Camp Kariong.

Relieved they survived the treacherous journey; festivities went long into the night! By morning, the crowd of peasants had grown to at least 150, yet the brave knights were still no closer to finding the Holy Grail!

The quest went throughout the day. Towers were stormed. Battles were fought. Chickens were thrown. Forests were cut down with herring. Professional swordsmen trained the Knights long into the evening with the hope that with these newly developed skills, their quest could be fulfilled.

Alas, any progression made on that summer's day was quickly lost upon night fall. Despite the elders strong words, evening and morning had no barrier. Dusk became dawn; no rest was had.

Time was critical; thy seek the Holy Grail, one must move quickly. On horseback thy ride, through the forest and across the bridge! "Stop! Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, 'ere the other side he see." – No time old man, we have a Roventure to win!

It came down to a wrestle, not mud or jelly, but breakfast leftovers. A tasty treat for those who skipped breakfast....

The quest was near over. The Holy Grail was in sight, alas one more challenge. Iron was the answer; not strength of your sword or thickness of your shield. An Iron Gut would win this battle.

Unlike Monty Python, there was a conclusion - Brush Park Rovers and Venturers were the winners - all the rest losers.

Many thanks to the Rovers, Venturers and Leaders from Mt Colah/Mt Kuringai for hosting Roventure 2008!

See ye all at Roventure 2009!
